Astonishing reasons why your pet might not choose you

Ever thought, if our pets dramatize their lives like TV serials and say, “I am done staying with you, I am leaving!” sounds crazy right?

All the animal lovers would have definitely watched the movie, “A Dog’s way home”. The movie clearly depicts how pets are loved and cared for. So much so that, Bella, the protagonist, the dog despite getting lost, wishes to get back to her owner. She was loved, taken care of, given the attention she craved, was taken to places. These are pretty much everything a pet would look for in its owners.

What happens now?

We all love to have pets. Some like to have cats, some like dogs, and some like fishes. Pets are like stress busters in our lives. All they ask for is some time, love, attention and of course, food.

But the situations are quite the opposite these days. Most animals are abandoned in today’s time for their behavioural problems. “Cat isn’t friendly enough, or Dog needs too much attention. Most behavioural issues can be corrected, but people may lack the knowledge or commitment needed to do the work,” says PETA.

Why would the pet leave us?

“Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on to them” — Eckhart Tolle

A few possible reasons pets leave us could be:

· They feeling taken for granted

· Not fed as required

· Untidy living space

· Not taken out for walks

· Never taken to meet with their friends

· Not getting their me-time

What if pets leave us?

It is hard to imagine life with our pets not be around us. It would feel as if, we lost the username and password for our Netflix account or any other bizarre comparison one can think of! Every small day to day activity would keep on reminding us of them. It can vary from their warm morning wake up hug to their not-so-joyful bath time.

How can we cope?

We all must give everyone their freedom. If they decide to leave, and that’s best for them to be happy. We must let them go.

Some ways to cope could be:

· Engage in our hobbies more often

· Visit any pet daycare nearby

· Socialise with friends

· Read books

· Listen to soothing music

Realisation before they would leave us

Pets can help manage loneliness and depression by giving us companionship”, says CDC.

When we are unwilling to understand our pets, how can we expect them to? They can have numerous reasons to not choose to stay with us. And we would be realising the value of our pets, only when they would start treating us how we have treated them. It needs to change.
